        Hm, now I wonder why I said that… it’s true that on the sea, sails are feminine as they are the receptive partner in the wind-to-boat relationship! In this context, though, they are sheltering and stand over the terrace, and the nautical element is purely referential. Yes, I think they are masculine in this setting. 🙂
